ravished
“For you reach into my heart. With one flash of your eyes I am undone by your love, my beloved, my equal, my bride. You leave me breathless--I am overcome by merely a glance from your worshipping eyes, for you have stolen my heart. I am held hostage by your love and by the graces of righteousness shining upon you.”
Song of Songs 4:9 TPT.
Only a Father. Who am I, to receive such tender words of affection from the only One found worthy? For the beauty of our glance, alone, is enough to capture His heart. He was ravished first. The Hebrew word for ravished is “libabthini”, meaning “to tear bark off a tree.” We actually strip layers off the outer shell of His heart, and make Him both susceptible + vulnerable to our gaze. We make Him bare. HE was vulnerable first. What a beautiful depiction of how His written words are not only linked to action, but to reaction. Raw emotional expression. We are so captivating that the Father proactively reacts to us. Every spoken word of God carries the power and the grace to come to fruition. The fruit of His word is His exertion. Your existence is a product of His spoken word. His heartbeat for you is vertical--It’s what makes it custom.
